Mildred Katherine "Kaye" (Head) Maxwell

Mildred Katherine “Kaye” Head Maxwell, 88 of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022.  Kaye was born May 2, 1934 in Gainesboro, TN to the late Bethel Fay and Lovie Mai Head.

She owned and operated cosmetology schools (Hair Fashions by Kaye Beauty College) for over 40 years, in the Indianapolis area. Prior to that she owned several beauty salons in the Indianapolis area. She was self-educated and was a mentor to a lot of people. She was respected and loved by all and always wanted to help people whether they were competitors or not. She loved her family and was always there for anyone who needed her help. She was a devoted sister, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all.

She was involved with numerous professional organizations within the hair industry and served as president of the ICEA (Indiana Cosmetology Educators Association)

Visitation is open to all family and friends on Friday, from 4 until 8 pm at Flanner Buchanan- Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, Carmel, IN. Visitation with the family will be Monday, December 5th from 10:00 a.m until time for service at Upton-Hay Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Monday, December 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Upton-Hay Funeral Home, Celina, TN with burial following at Macedonia Cemetery in Moss, Tennessee.

Kaye is survived by her daughters, Linda Sterrett (husband, Don) Hudson and Lisa (husband, Jim) Galloway; sister, Judy Crouch; grandchildren, Sean Sterrett, Ian Galloway, Katie Galloway; great granddaughter, Willow Grace Galloway; brothers, Ross and Harold Head.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Bell; brothers, Mell Head and Bill Head; brothers-in-law, John Richard Crouch and Bobby J. Bell; sisters-in-law, Margie Head and Susie Head.
