Mr. James Doyle Rhoton, age 72, of Moss, TN, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at his residence.
Doyle was born Sunday, March 6, 1949 in Moss, TN to the late Charlie and Ivo (Denton) Rhoton. He was also proceeded in death by his son, Jonathan Marty Burks; 2 brothers Charles Junior Rhoton, and Mitchell Rhoton.
Doyle began working a full-time job at 17 years of age. He worked for Morehead and several other jobs before starting work for Crotty Corporation on January 2, 1972 where he worked 41 years. He was also a lifelong farmer on his family farm in the Midway Community. He helped his son start a successful logging operation where he worked for the last 20 years as a timber cutter and a knuckle boom operator. Working with his son and grandsons was the joy of his life.
Doyle was very accomplished at sports and outdoor activities in his life. He was a successful softball player, bowler, outdoorsman, and had an amazing marble career. Doyle and his partner Russell Collins were five-time rolley hole champions. They also won the Monroe County Fair tournament eight consecutive years beginning in 1982.
He is survived by his wife Robbie Rhoton; 1 son, Joseph (Holly) Burks; 2 grandsons, Wyatt and Andrew Burks; 5 granddaughters, Faith, Rachel, Eve, Remington, and Ember Burks; 3 sisters, Eva Joyce Rhoton, Emma Jean Davis, Doyce (Larry) Lawson; 2 brothers, Royce (Thelma) Rhoton, Wayne (Linda) Rhoton; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors that will mourn his passing.
Doyle was loved and respected by all who knew him.
