Ms. Wilma Jean Hayes age 86 passed away on December 3, 2017 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was born on February 2, 1931 to Charles Burris, Sr. and Willie Alma Duke in Clay County.
Graveside services for Wilma Jean (Burris) Hayes of Cookeville, formerly of Celina, will be held on December 4, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Cemetery in Celina, Tennessee with Kenny Westmoreland officiating.
She and her sister, Geneva Spear, built the original Dairy Queen in Celina. She also worked as a teller at the Bank of Celina. She was a longtime member of the Celina Church of a Christ.
She has lived in Cookeville, Tennessee for the past several years and attended Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents she was succeeded in death by sons Mike Hayes and Steve Hayes; infant grandson; sister Geneva Spear; brothers Charles Burris, Jr. and Duke Burris.
She is survived by daughter Sue Stone and husband John of Celina; granddaughter Kimberly Hall of Hudsonville, Michigan; grandsons Sam Stone of Cookeville, Tennessee and Kevin Hayes of Michigan; great grandchildren Daris, Kasandra, and Liliana Hall of Hudsonville, Michigan and Kate and Sara Stone of Cookeville Tennessee; nieces Debbie Billings of Cookeville, Tennessee and Sandy Burris of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
