Obituary

Mr. Walter Edgar Elam, Jr, age 77, of Cookeville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

He was born on Friday, August 6, 1948, to the late Walter Edgar Sr. and Nelle (Gray) Elam. In addition to his parents, Ed was also preceded in death by two daughters, Tiffany Elam and Bridget Williams; grandson, Wesley Tucker; and sister, Cindy Hill.

We honor the life and legacy of Walter "Ed" Elam Jr. a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and visionary whose presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him. A man of quiet strength and deep conviction, Ed passed away after several months of declining health.

Ed married his lifelong partner, Linda, when they were teenagers, and together they shared 60 remarkable years of marriage. Their bond was built on enduring commitment, mutual respect, and devotion. Even in his final months, Ed remained lovingly attentive to Linda's care, a reflection of the steadfast character that defined his life.

Professionally, Ed was a true innovator in the oil and gas industry. He was known for his passion for building large-scale structures and solving complex engineering challenges. His career took him across the globe, and he embraced every opportunity to explore new places, often bringing his family along and creating cherished memories around the world.

Ed wanted nothing but the best for those he loved. His generosity and loyalty were evident in the way he supported his family and friends. He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but for the integrity, passion, and quiet leadership he carried throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife Linda Elam; son, Chris Keen (Christie); daughters, Kimberly Tucker (Ted) and Farrah Spear (Kyle); grandchildren, Brittney Tucker (Larry Eldridge), Kylie Huddleston (Brady), Kyra Spear, Aiden Keen, Dylan Keen (Makali), Learik Lillard, Dustin Williams (Olivia), Megan Williams, and Alek Williams; great grandchildren, Cameron Burks (Andrew), Selena Tucker, Ella Knight, Jacob Ray, Karma Tucker, Destiny Tucker, Harmony Tucker, Patience Tucker, Jayce Keen, Callen Keen, Pearl Short, August Lillard, Elliott Williams, and Aria Williams; brother, Greg Davis; sister, Linda Rich (Ted); as well as a host of friends and neighbors that will mourn his passing.

His influence lives on in the lives he touched, the values he upheld, and the stories that will be shared for generations to come. He will be deeply missed.
