Vera Mildred Abney, 77

HILHAM– Funeral Services for Vera Mildred "Beggie" Abney, 80 of the Baptist Ridge Community of Clay County will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Upton Funeral Home with Ronnie Webb and Richard Whiteside officiating. The interment will follow in the Doc Hall Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday and 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Upton Funeral Home

Mildred Abney passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Livingston Regional Hospital in Livingston, Tennessee.

Vera Mildred Poindexter was born November 07, 1932 in Clay Co., Tennessee to the late Ralph Ray and Maude Leah (Thompson) Poindexter. Mildred married Robert Milton Abney on August 01, 1953 in Clay Co., Tennessee. Mildred worked as factory worker at R.C.A. Corporation and was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ on Baptist Ridge.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Abney of Hilham, TN, Son & daughter-in-law, Daryl (Shelley) Abney of Greenwood, IN, daughters & son-in-law, Patricia Grider of Celina, TN and Deborah (William) Richey of Camby, IN, brothers, Gary Poindexter of Indianapolis, IN and Glyn Poindexter of Celina, TN, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchild.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne Abney, brothers, Clayton, Raymond, Eddie, and Fred Poindexter, and sister; Sula Alyne Smith.

Serving as pallbearers were: Mitch and Josh Abney, Chris, Pete, and Zakk Grider, and Richard Whiteside.
