Reed Brown, 90

CELINA – Funeral Services for Reed Brown, age 90, of the Midway Community in Clay County will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 03, 2013 at Upton Funeral Home with Ted Gaw officiating. The interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Moss, Tennessee. Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Upton Funeral Home

Mr. Brown passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Reed Brown was born April 04, 1923 in Clay Co., Tennessee to the late Herman and Versie Lee (Crowder) Brown. Reed married the late Louise Rich on December 29, 1948. Louise preceded him in death on March 02, 1977. Beside his parents and wife, Reed was preceded in death by brothers: Ray "Cap" Brown, Ezra "Spuddy" Brown, and Ed Raymond Brown, sisters: Ila Goodnight, Louise Brown, Olyne Brown, and Edith Netherton. Reed was a longtime member of the Midway Church of Christ, served in the Army during World War II, and worked with the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his son, Gary Neal Brown of Moss, TN, daughters, Rita Brown of Murfreesboro, TN, and Hilda Brown of Moss, TN, grandson, Chris Ennis, and 2 great-grandchildren, Reed and Dean Ennis.

Memorial contributions are to be made to the Lafayette Monument Company for the upkeep of the monuments in the Macedonia Cemetery.
