Jerry "Pooney" Watson

Mr. Jerry “Pooney” Watson, age 62, of Celina, TN passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Centennial Medical Center.

Celebration of life will be held Monday, August 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Upton-Hay Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Monday, August 10, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until time for the celebration of life to begin.

He was born on Sunday, December 1, 1963, to Merle and Barbara (Nevins) Watson. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Jacky Watson.

Pooney was a chicken farmer, he operated family-owned chicken houses on a daily basis.

He spent most of his time fishing, farming, playing with his horse, Doodle and his dog, Zeb. He enjoyed good food but was known to be a critic. Pooney was a good cook which led to his expert critics. He also loved to ride his motorcycle.

He is survived by his daughter, Jaelyn Rich (Briley); granddaughter on the way, Lattie Jean Rich; mother, Barbara Watson; brother, Joel Watson (Kim); nieces, Megan Volk (Robert) and Jessica Clark; nephew, Jonathan Watson; great niece, Locklyn Volk, great nephew, Brennan Volk; and special bestie, Allie Cat; as well as a host of friends and neighbors that will mourn his passing.
