Obituary

Grace Marie Pitcock Brown born 11/03/1926 died 06/03/2023 Grace was the daughter of the late Otis and Eula Pitcock. She married the late Ezra "Spuddy" Brown (d.1988) in 1946. Grace's childhood was spent in the Beech Flat area of Overton Co. As in many large families, she helped with the upbringing of her younger siblings, especially her sister, Creola. Grace told her grandchildren of the games she played as a child including, grapevine swings, Annie Over and making dolls out of rocks. She loved learning but was only able to attend school through eighth grade due to family circumstances. Because of this she always valued education and pushed her children and grandchildren to get as much education as possible. She worked at Osh Gosh for 40 years. She was active in many civic groups and held several positions in the United Garment Workers of America Union local, including president and treasurer, while working at Osh Gosh. While residing at Celina Health and Rehab, she was the President of the Resident's Council. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, and playing cards. She gave numerous crocheted pieces as wedding gifts. She was very competitive and played to win, even with the young grandchildren. After retiring, she spent many hours at the Community Center with the Clay County Senior Citizens enjoying all the provided activities. Until her last days she was quick to share her observations and point of view! She was a member of the Celina Church of Christ (and in past years at Midway and Arcot). Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Priscilla Tinnon and son-in-law, Bobby Tinnon, brothers, Truman, Wesley, and Byrdle Pitcock and sisters, Chris Raines and Catherine Smith. She is survived by sons, Eddy (Joanne) Brown, Jerry (Ruth) Brown and daughter, Mary Lee (Al) Hampton.
