Dwight Dale Goolsby

Mr. Dwight D. Goolsby, age 71, of Moss, TN, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Upton Hay Funeral Home with Dale Reagan officiating with interment to follow in the Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until time for the service.

He was born on Monday, September 19, 1955, to the late Pauline (Strong) and Waymon Estus Goolsby. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law William Smith.

Dwight and Vicky were the owners of Goolsby’s BBQ and Package Store for several years, these businesses brought people from all over, creating friendships and bonds throughout many cities and states.

His demeanor seemed very quiet, very squared away, however he had the heart of a servant and a smile that would light up the darkest of rooms.

Dwight served with honor and distinction in the United States Navy, selflessly sacrificing his own life in service to our country and the protection of our freedom.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and college football. To say he loved the Tennessee Vols would be an understatement, he was a keen fan, win or lose he proudly wore his orange. His passing will leave an unimaginable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Dwight is survived by his spouse, Vicky Goolsby; daughter, Cierra (Russ) Clements; grandchildren, Ella Grace and Grady Worth Clements; brothers, Jimmy (Eulanda) Goolsby and Mike (Suzanne) Goolsby; mother-in-law, Betty Sue Smith; brothers-in- law, Calvin (Sonya) Smith, and Anthony (Lee) Smith; as well as a host of family and friends that will mourn his passing.
