Doria Anne Nimmo -Cherry, age 63 of the Oak Grove Community of Clay, TN died gracefully on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Anne was born in Mississippi on May 18, 1953.  Throughout her life she was first a mother, and served in many roles including head start teacher and most recently as the masterful organizer of Wendell Cherry's Sporting Classes and Competitions. Anne was preceded in death by her Father, Loy Little Sledd.

Survivors include her companion, Wendell Cherry of over 20 years, Oak Grove Community, Clay County.  Her mother, Doris Lynn, Paducah, KY.  Two sons, John Michael David Nimmo, wife Alicia, Bowling Green, KY and Christopher Paul Nimmo, wife Lisa of Gallatin, TN.  One daughter, Carrie Anne Paul, husband Bobby of Hendersonville, TN.  Anne loved her eight grandchildren, Tori, Abi, Troy, Jada, Jaylin, Chase, Noah, and Savanna. Anne also leaves five brothers and sisters and dozens of nieces and nephews, James Sledd, wife Carol, Paducah, KY, Kenneth Sledd, wife Sherry, Murfreesboro, TN, Judy Sledd, husband Lyn Tucker, Shirley Logue, and Shannah Poindexter, husband Chris all from Paducah, KY.

Visitation with the family will be at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Upton-Hay Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Upton-Hay Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery in the Oak Grove Community of Clay County, TN.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the care that Anne received at Vanderbilt, Medical Plaza North, 5th floor and to the Palliative Care team who cared for her with expertise, compassion and dignity.
