Roy Mitchell "Rawhide" White

Roy Mitchell White, best known as Rawhide, age 89, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the Livingston Regional Hospital in Livingston, TN.

Memorial Services will be held at the Celina Church of Christ on Saturday, January 25, 2020, with Caleb Burnette officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 12:00 p.m. at the Celina Church of Christ.

Roy Mitchell White, who later became best known as 'Rawhide', was born on Tuesday, July 1, 1930, to the late Minor Mayo and Della (Cunningham) White. Other than his parents, Roy was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Fred 'Gizzard' White and Marshall White; 2 sisters, Velma Pitcock and infant Caryon Sue; and his first wife of 58 years, and mother of his 2 daughters,  Helen (Moss) White, who passed away on October 21, 2007.

Rawhide was a man of integrity and known for his hard work. He was a man of many talents and could be best described as a "Jack of all trades". An entrepreneur in all aspects, Rawhide was able to bring his ideas to fruition and found ways to benefit everyone he could, from being a local store owner to providing a marble yard for those who enjoyed gathering for the sport. He made friends easily and was always available to help someone in need.

Roy was a Veteran of the United State Army who served his country in Germany.

On January 1, 2020, Roy celebrated the 10 year wedding anniversary with his adoring bride, Anna (Marcom) White. The uniting of their love and lives provided an incredibly blessed blended family unit consisting of: 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

Roy was a faithful member of the Celina Church of Christ.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Anna; 3 daughters, Barbara Walker and husband, Wallace, of Moss, TN, Brenda Huddleston of Cookeville, TN and Beverly Hollifield and husband, Jim, of Atlanta, GA; 1 son, Claude Kelly, Jr., of Crystal River, FL; 6 grandchildren, Kristy Johnson and husband, Eddie, Patrick Walker and wife, Emily, Brad Huddleston and wife, Kim, Trey Hollifield and wife, Ashley, Kelly Lennie and husband, Craig, and Chris Kelly and wife, Kathryn; 11 great-grandchildren; special caregivers who became family for the exceptional love and care they provided, Brittney, Vicky, and Tanna, as well as many other friends and neighbors who will mourn his passing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Celina Church of Christ or the Clay County Public Library.
